Breece Hall, I choose you! Go, Michael Carter!
Jets running backs coach Taylor Embree may not use those exact quotes, but his quote today after practice might give you that thought in your head.
Imagine you’re Ash Ketchum going into battle. But instead of Pikachu, Squirtle and Bulbasaur, you’ve got Breece Hall, Michael Carter and Tevin Coleman at your disposal.
That’s pretty much how Embree is comparing his running back rotation this season. “I was describing it to my wife, I feel like it’s Pokémon and you’re just sending out your next Pokémon.”
So one minute, you’ll have the power of Hall, the next you can swap Poké balls and go to Coleman. It does put the Jets in an advantageous position because they do have a solid group of backs that can do multiple things and help change the pace of the game at any given time.
So the next time you watch the Jets offense, think of it as Ash up against one of the gym leaders going for another badge. And perhaps one day, could lead to a Poké Cup, or whatever you tried to win from all those classic Pokémon games. (Most underrated part of a Pokémon game was the Kids Club in Pokémon Stadium, by the way.)
