Arsenal icon Ray Parlour has plumped for Jorginho as the Gunners’ signing of the season.
Mikel Arteta ’s side were busy in the market throughout the past 12 months as they attempted to put together a push for the title. Edu was at the heart of a £110m summer transfer spree as Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko became the headline arrivals from Manchester City.
The pair’s impact could not be understated as Arsenal surprisingly rivalled Pep Guardiola ’s men for the Premier League title. Despite that, Parlour has not selected either of the duo and instead has named Jorginho as the club’s signing of the season.
Speaking to Metro, the 50-year-old said: “Jorginho has done a good job in midfield. He’s got good experience for the money [Arsenal paid].
"I’m going off the value of the players signed. Trossard has also been an excellent signing. Jesus leads the line very well.
"But probably for the money they spent and the experience they got, which they needed, as well as a back-up in midfield, I would go for Jorginho. For the last two or three games he has been really good. You can’t buy experience. He knows what needs to be done to win trophies. Zinchenko has been excellent as well."

Jorginho arrived from Chelsea late in the January window for a £12m fee and was joined by Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior. The Italian midfielder made 16 appearances for the Gunners since - 11 of those being starts.
He contributed to one of the most memorable moments of the season as his shot from distance found the net via former Arsenal goalkeeper Emi Martinez in a 4-2 win against Aston Villa.
Both Zinchenko and Jesus have also had a huge impact in North London. Despite each of them struggling with injuries, they both made 33 appearances throughout the campaign.
The Brazilian striker also scored 11 goals during his debut campaign as an Arsenal player. He gave an assessment of the season after the 5-0 win against Wolves on the final day.
“It was good,” Jesus said. “Unfortunately, we didn’t win a trophy which was our target, but I think we had a good season, very good.
“We are building a good atmosphere from inside and outside, the fans coming with us always supporting, pushing us. We want to come here today, enjoy and play good football like we did for 90 per cent of the season, playing good football.
“We won the game, and then after enjoyed it with our family and friends. Everyone is together, so it was a good day.”
