Ray Parlour delivers Nottingham Forest relegation verdict

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has predicted who he thinks is destined for the drop this season as Nottingham Forest prepare for their huge relegation six-pointer this weekend.

Forest are currently 13th in the Premier League, four points above second and third from bottom Bournemouth and Everton who are on 21, with bottom club Southampton trailing on 18.

Steve Cooper ’s men have suffered setbacks on the road in recent weeks, being thumped 4-0 at West Ham last time out, having lost 2-0 at Fulham in their previous away fixture. But, crucially, they earned a confidence boosting point at home to Manchester City in between those games and have taken points off their nearest relegation rivals lately, beating Leeds United and Southampton, and drawing against Bournemouth.

And with Sean Dyche’s men the visitors to the City Ground this weekend, the Reds could put further distance between themselves and the battling pack if they overcome the Toffees in a classic six-pointer.

AceOdds asked Parlour who he thinks is getting relegated this year?

“I can’t see Bournemouth staying up if I’m being honest,” said the 49-year-old former England international who, interestingly, didn’t give Forest a single mention in his runners and riders destined for the Championship.

“Southampton, I still think they will go down. It was a brilliant result against Chelsea, but I still think they will go down. The third place is so difficult to call... I mean, with Everton, Sean Dyche has really turned it around. Home form is going to be important for Everton. “They’ve had two really good wins at home since he arrived. They were big, big wins for Sean. I can see Everton getting out of it. Sean Dyche will bring enough to the team to get out of it.

“Leeds United is going to be interesting. People say well with their new manager that they’ve gone regressive. But he kept Watford up and got to the cup final. So let’s see what impact he can bring in. That third place, I think it’s wide open. I really do. If I had to pick one, I think I’ll probably pick Leeds.”
