The Baltimore Ravens don’t need another heroic speech from defensive back Marlon Humphrey, but they could use his help slowing down Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice.

Quietly, Rice had a solid 2023 season, finishing with 79 total receptions with an 11.9 yards per catch average. Rice also had success versus the Ravens in the AFC Championship, recording eight catches for 46 yards.
As if stopping the Chiefs’ offensive passing attack were ever easy, it may be increasingly difficult if the Ravens can’t dictate at the line of scrimmage in week 1. Their matchup this upcoming Thursday will come down to their ability to defend with man coverage, meaning Humphrey (and others) will need to live up to the hype.

Hopefully, Humphrey has been studying film to make the corrections needed to neutralize Rice at the deep and intermediate levels in the passing game. Humphrey’s physical (not verbal) success will be key in this game.
