The Baltimore Ravens have long-been known for their defense. Over the course of their franchise history, the team has drafted, signed, and traded for many defensive stalwarts, including Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and others.
When talking about the team’s current defense, Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews raved about the unit that features Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton, Justin Madubuike and others. He called the group “incredible” saying that iron sharpens iron when the team’s offense has to face a defense like that in practice every single day.
“Yes, we’ve got an incredible defense. Iron sharpens iron, and we’re going to have our hands full with going against those guys, and [I’m] excited about those competitions. It’s going to make us better – make our receivers better, make the tight ends better – and we’re going to be flying around. We’re going to be competitive, but at the same time, we love each other.”
Andrews is looking to bounce back from a disappointing end to his 2023 season, which saw him suffer a serious ankle injury in the middle of the year that caused him to miss every game except the team’s AFC Championship loss. Going up against his defensive teammates in practice certainly doesn’t make anything easy, but pays off once the season begins and the games count.
