Ravens’ TE Mark Andrews assisted medical professionals in a mid-flight emergency

The Baltimore Ravens’ season might be over, but the team is still making headlines after tight end Mark Andrews helped assist two medical professionals when a fellow passenger faced a mid-flight health emergency.

Twitter user Andrew Springs posted a thread Thursday about the medical emergency during his Southwest flight from Baltimore to Phoenix. According to Springs, a doctor and nurse on the flight began to assist a woman with low blood pressure and a weak pulse, among other symptoms.

It was then that Andrews, a Type 1 diabetic, offered them his glucose testing kit to check her blood sugar.  The woman eventually stabilized.

Here’s the full thread from Springs on the story:

Later on Thursday, the Ravens confirmed Springs’ story as Andrews posted a statement on the matter.

“In addition to the fast-acting flight attendants, the real heroes are the nurse and doctor who also happened to be on the plane. Thankfully they were able to provide the woman the quick assistance she needed.”
