Despite their loss in Week 18 to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Baltimore Ravens saw their tight ends group play one of their best games of the season with Anthony Brown under center, even though they were down a key star.
In a game where it seemed that Brown could only find his tight ends consistently when throwing the ball, rookies Charlie Kolar and Isaiah Likely stood out as top performers in an otherwise disappointing showing. Veteran tight end Mark Andrews was rested in the contest, and gave his assessment of the effort from the rookies in Week 18, telling reporters that he liked what he saw.
“I think he [Charlie Kolar] played extremely well. Both him and ‘Zay’ [Isaiah Likely] played really, really good,” Andrews explained. “I’m very proud of the way they competed. They went out there and played against a really good defense. So, I think they both have continued to learn all year. But especially [with] Charlie, it hasn’t been the easiest of roads, so [it was] really cool to see him out there. He’s just loving the game [and] taking it all in. He played really good ball.”
Baltimore will need even more production from their young pass catchers in their Wild Card rematch against the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend. Andrews will suit up for the matchup, and will likely be relied upon heavily in the contest.
