Justice Hill rushed for two touchdowns and the Baltimore Ravens tamed the Houston Texans 25-9 Sunday afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium.
The fourth-round running back’s eight carries for nine yards were part of the Ravens’ 110 rushing yards. Quarterback Lamar Jackson was the Ravens’ leading ball carrier with six carries for 38 yards. The former NFL MVP was efficient through the air as he completed 17 passes on 22 attempts for 169 yards and an interception.
Buy Texans TicketsHouston generated 268 yards total offense to the Ravens’ 265. Both teams were even with 18 first downs. Baltimore edged the Texans in time of possession 29:05 to 30:55. The Ravens had 13 penalties for 106 yards compared to Houston’s nine for 88.
C.J. Stroud debut
The No. 2 overall pick completed 28 passes on 44 attempts for 242 yards and a 78.0 passer rating. The Ravens defense sacked Stroud five times with the rookie adding four carries for 20 yards. Stroud’s first career completion went to himself.
Will Anderson disruption
The No. 3 overall pick sacked Jackson as part of his disruptive day. Anderson contributed with six combined tackles along with two quarterback hits and a tackle for loss. Anderson also held up Jackson in the first quarter during the quarterback’s errant throw that led to a Steven Nelson interception.
Penalties
The Texans had two key penalties that hurt their pass defense. Nelson incurred a 26-yard defensive pass interference with 14:53 to go in the second quarter. Derek Stingley had a 17-yard pass interference with 6:07 to go in the third quarter. Both fouls came while defending receiver Odell Beckham.
What's next?
The Texans start 0-1 for the first time since 2020. Houston hosts the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 for their home opener.
Baltimore improves to 1-0 and goes on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
