Ravens S Tony Jefferson II shares why he considers Baltimore home

The Baltimore Ravens signed safety Tony Jefferson II to a four-year, $36 million contract. His first stint in Baltimore didn’t go as planned on the field, as he struggled in certain aspects of his game and suffered an unfortunate season-ending injury in 2019. Jefferson was released following the 2019 season and struggled to latch on with another team in the few years after his injury. However, the Ravens brought him back late in the 2021 season and he performed well enough to earn another contract with the team during the 2022 offseason.

Jefferson spoke to the media following a training camp practice, and went into detail about why he considers Baltimore home. He talked about how he has a feeling of being comfortable and feeling cared about both on and off the field, discussing the team’s family-oriented culture as well.

“I can go on for hours of why I consider this place home. But when you know it’s home, you just know it’s home, and you just have that feeling of just being comfortable, being around everybody, knowing that everybody truly cares about you – not just on the field, but off – and just having the ability to have the resources if you need help with anything. It’s just a family-oriented deal that we’ve got going on here, [and] it makes you feel like family.”

The Ravens are very highly regarded throughout the NFL as one of the top-notch organizations in the league, with many veterans sharing the same views as Jefferson. Baltimore gave the veteran safety a chance to revive his career, and that paired with how strong the team’s culture seems to have vastly strengthened Jefferson’s feelings towards the franchise.
