Ravens RB Gus Edwards shares emotions of returning to field following torn ACL

The Baltimore Ravens picked up a 23-20 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 7 of the 2022 season. They were able to close out a team in the fourth quarter after almost blowing a lead, but they move to 4-3 with a victory and maintain their top spot in the AFC North.

One of the key players who contributed to the win was running back Gus Edwards, who made his return to the field for the first time in 646 days following a torn ACL just before the 2021 season began. Following the game, he shared his wide range of emotions in multiple answers to the media, first sharing that he feels blessed to be in the position he’s in.

“It’s a blessing. I just want to give God his glory. It took a lot of faith, getting through everything and all the adversity I faced with the injury. I had a strong team starting with God, and I’m just blessed to be in the position I am here a year later.”

He then talked about how getting into the end zone for the first time, calling it “special”.

“It always feels like a release; you work hard all week, you go over the same plays all week, and you envision everything being a touchdown. It always feels like a release, but this one was special for me coming off the injury. Like I said – and I’m going to keep saying it – it’s a blessing, it’s a blessing.”
