Ravens RB Derrick Henry says he’s ready to take pressure off of QB Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the top rushing teams in the NFL ever since they inserted quarterback Lamar Jackson into their starting lineup. Jackson’s ability, both as a passer and as a runner, puts immense stress on defenses, opening up things for him and the rest of the offense.

On the second day of 2024 NFL free agency, Baltimore signed running back Derrick Henry to a two-year, $16 million deal. Henry is ready to take on a new role with the Ravens and talked about taking pressure off of his quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

“Yes, I think me just doing my job and executing, being efficient and everything that I do, so we help one another … My job is being explosive, making explosive runs, being a threat in the run game and anywhere else they ask me to help out this offense. So, it’s just [on] me [to] focus on doing my job, just so I’m a threat to opposing defenses.”

Jackson and Henry always have the full attention of the defenses they play. With both now in the same backfield, it will put impossible stress on opponents to figure out which one to key in on while the other likely can wreak havoc.
