Ravens QB Tyler Huntley has confidence after gaining experience in 2021

The Baltimore Ravens played their first Preseason game at M&T Bank Stadium against the Tennessee Titans, picking up a 23-10 win. Many of Baltimore’s starters didn’t suit up for the game including quarterback Lamar Jackson. As such, quarterback Tyler Huntley got the start and played the entire first half, performing well.

With Jackson missing the final four games of last season with a bone bruise in his ankle, Huntley was able to step in and gain plenty of experience as a starter. When asked about how much confidence he has now as opposed to a year ago, he referenced the talent he went up against when he was able to play in 2021.

“I felt like I got a couple of good games [last year] under my belt, and I played against some good players like Aaron Donald and TJ Watt, so it gave me a little confidence for the future.”

It’s not all that often that a backup quarterback gets a decent amount of playing experience in the NFL at such a young age, but Huntley was able to grow and learn with plenty of playing time down the stretch last year. If Jackson is forced to miss any time moving forward, the team is able to trot out a very capable backup in the former Utah star.
