Ravens’ Mark Andrews Says Odell Beckham Jr. Gets ‘Bad Rep,’ Has Been ‘Awesome’ for Locker Room

When wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. signed with the Ravens on April 9, many observers naturally wondered how the enigmatic veteran would fit in Baltimore.

Beckham, after all, had left his first two teams—the Giants and Browns—under acrimonious circumstances. He seemed to find a more stable home with the Rams in late 2021, but then he tore his ACL in the second quarter of Super Bowl LVI.

Although Beckham’s numbers haven’t been overwhelming yet this season, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews told Sports Illustrated on Tuesday morning that early returns on Beckham’s locker-room presence have been positive.

“I think he’s got kind of … a bad rep, you know, and the guy I’ve seen in the locker room has been a guy that’s been infectious to be around,” Andrews said. “He’s been a guy that’s been awesome for our locker room.”

Through three games, Beckham has caught five passes for 66 yards. Andrews, on the other hand, has nine catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

At 2-1, Baltimore is tied with the Steelers and Browns for first place in the AFC North.

“He’s just been a joy to have in the locker room,” Andrews said. “He’s incredibly skilled. This is the best I think he’s ever felt, and he’s playing really good football. So I’m excited for him to get back out there [and] make some big plays.”
