Ravens LB Trenton Simpson talks about the appeal of Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens drafted Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.  All signs pointed to the team drafting one of the best cornerbacks still available at 86, but they opted to choose Simpson.

Simpson was the top-rated linebacker at that time and the Ravens normally go for the best player available, no matter what the team needs. In his media call after being drafted, Simpson was asked if he sensed that the Ravens would be interested in him. He said he knew in his heart it was a great opportunity for him.

“Yes, sir. In my heart, I knew that was a great opportunity for me. My agent had let me know that was the place that was best for me. They already have a winning program, [and] I come from Clemson with a winning pedigree, so I’m just excited to bring my talent and my mindset to the team. And this is just a blessing. My emotions poured out, because I’ve been grinding at this football thing since I was six years old. So, just to be in the National Football League and have my family there and my mom by my side meant the world to me, definitely.”
