Ravens land top CB prospect in latest 2022 mock draft by The Draft Network

The Baltimore Ravens have plenty of needs to fill as they continue to navigate through the 2022 offseason. They’ve already made a big change, as they parted ways with former defensive coordinator Don Martindale and hired Mike Macdonald in his place. However, the moves are far from over for Eric DeCosta and company.

In his latest 2022 NFL mock draft, Keith Sanchez of The Draft Network made a selection for each pick in the first round. For Baltimore, he has them taking star Louisiana State University cornerback prospect Derek Stingley Jr. with the 14th overall pick. When explaining his choice, Sanchez talked about how the Ravens take the best player available while having it fill a need.

“The Baltimore Ravens do it again. They simply take a good football player and believe in their process as an organization. At pick No. 14, the Ravens draft cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. Stingley Jr. spent the majority of his college career as the No. 1 corner, but due to injury concerns, he slipped a bit. However, I believe that the Ravens will do their due diligence and find his injury concerns to be minuscule compared to the talent that they are getting at this pick. Plus, it immediately fills a position of need.”

Stingley totaled 73 total tackles, 20 passes defended and six interceptions in his three years at LSU. He has top-tier speed and uses his hips well, but suffered through multiple injuries over his last two seasons that could have him slip a bit in the draft. If he’s available at No. 14 it would be a home run selection for Baltimore, as they would most likely be getting the top player remaining on the board while filling a big need.
