Ravens HC John Harbaugh shares thoughts on contract situation with QB Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens have had many big storylines surround them during the 2022 offseason, but perhaps none bigger than the potential contract extension between the team and quarterback Lamar Jackson. Many want to see the two sides strike a deal, but nothing has been agreed to as of this point.

On Monday, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh spoke at the 2022 NFL owners meetings, where he discussed a plethora of topics. The topic of Jackson’s contract extension came up, and Harbaugh gave a positive response, saying he’s “confident” that it will happen.

“I’m confident it’s going to happen. Like you guys know, until it happens it hasn’t happened but I’m confident it’s going to happen. I know he’s going to be our quarterback and really when you are coaching and playing that’s what you think about. We know we’re going to be playing this year and Lamar is going to be our quarterback. I’ve got to do the very best I can to have him ready to play his best football. That’s really what my job is and what his job is. So that’s what we’re focusing on.”

Harbaugh also noted that Jackson is working hard to get back after a bone bruise sidelined him for the final six weeks of 2021.

“Nobody is more determined than Lamar Jackson to be the best QB he can be. I see what he’s doing in the offseason. I’ve talked to him numerous times. He’s chomping at the bit to get back to the offseason program and we are too. We can’t wait to get back to work.”

It feels likely that Jackson will get an extension with the Ravens at some point or another. While nothing is set in stone until everything is
