Ravens HC John Harbaugh gives updates on WR Devin Duvernay, DB Brandon Stephens

The Baltimore Ravens are in the thick of 2022 training camp, with more than a week in the books. They’ve seen multiple players step up and take advantage of their opportunities, some which have come with unfortunate injuries to their teammates.

Two Baltimore players have been absent from practice for multiple days in wide receiver Devin Duvernay and defensive back Brandon Stephens. After practice on Friday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh provided updates on both Duvernay and Stephens, revealing that Stephens is dealing with a soft tissue injury while Duvernay could have returned on Thursday or Friday, but the team wants to take a cautious approach.

“[Brandon] Stephens has a little soft tissue thing that he’s dealing with. Hopefully, we got it early enough where we keep it short term. And [Devin] Duvernay, still has the thigh bruise. He probably could have gone today, even yesterday, but I pretty much said, ‘Let these young guys get some reps, and let’s get that thing 100 percent right.'”

Playing it safe with their injured players seems to be the absolute right thing to do, as this early in training camp risking a more serious injury wouldn’t be worth it if someone would end up missing a significant chunk of time. The team is trying to cut down on their injuries after a brutal 2021 season, and they’re taking multiple steps in order to try to make sure that happens.
