Ravens HC John Harbaugh discusses signing of RB Kenyan Drake

The Baltimore Ravens saw their running back room get decimated with injuries over the course of the 2021 season. They lost J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill before the year began, prompting them to sign multiple veteran options.

On Wednesday, the team officially announced the signing of running back Kenyan Drake, who was released by the Las Vegas Raiders just a few weeks prior. Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh was asked about Drake and what he can bring to the table, mentioning his pass protection as well as what he brings as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

“Kenyan Drake joined us today, and he’s a back who has had a lot of exciting plays in this league. He’s a big, strong, fast, kind of slasher-type back [with] experience in pass protection. [He] catches the ball well out of the back field. [He’s] a great guy, in talking to him. So, he’ll be taking more of the next four days to get up to speed and get ready to go.”

Drake provides the Ravens with another veteran running back option while Dobbins and Edwards continue to work back from injuries. The former Alabama star has accumulated almost 5,000 total yards in his seven year career, showing his versatility such as a runner or a pass catcher
