The Baltimore Ravens lost many of their key contributors to injury over the course of the 2021 season. A year that was supposed to be filled with promise and success quickly turned into one marred by what-ifs, and Baltimore finished at 8-9 and missed the playoffs entirely.
Two of the players that suffered season-ending ailments were running back J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. When guard Kevin Zeitler was asked about how excited he is to block for the duo once both are healthy, the veteran said he was “very excited”, but also made sure to shout out running backs Latavius Murray and Devonta Freeman for what they did in 2021.
“I am very excited to see what J.K. [Dobbins] and Gus [Edwards] can do. It’s truly unbelievable what happened way back when at the end of training camp, but I know those two guys are working hard. It’ll be really cool to see what they can do when they come back. Also, just a huge shoutout to Latavius [Murray] and Devonta [Freeman]. Coming in the way they did, the way they were able to learn the offense, the different ways they ran and how they were able to be effective was really cool getting to see them go.”
Both Dobbins and Edwards went down with torn ACLs before the year began. They were expected to have huge roles within the Ravens’ offense, and losing them was devastating blow to an offense that built their running game to be the backbone of it. As Dobbins and Edwards continue to get closer to returning the excitement will get stronger, and when both get back on the field Baltimore will get a massive boost.
