The Baltimore Ravens have been stout against the run so far in 2023 on the defensive side of the ball. They haven’t allowed opponents to get much on the ground outside of a few long runs, which has brought their stats as a unit in that area down.
Against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, Baltimore’s defense got gashed on the ground by a handful of running backs. Veteran defensive lineman Michael Pierce said that he and the rest of the defense took that personally, and said the team has some things to clean up in that regard.
“Very much so personally. Outside of the [Indianapolis] Colts [game], that was probably our worst performance. We gave up a long run in Cleveland, too, that pushed them right over 100 [yards]. Like I said, we pride ourselves on stopping the run. We’ve got a lot of stuff to clean up in that area, especially the first half tape. So, before Seattle comes, we have some work to do, but I’m glad we made some strides in the second half for sure.”
