The Baltimore Ravens shored up their defensive line unit over the course of the 2022 offseason, using multiple avenues to do so. They signed veterans Michael Pierce and Brent Urban in free agency while also re-signing Calais Campbell, but also added rookie Travis Jones in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft.
When speaking to the media, Baltimore defensive lineman Justin Madubuike was asked about his thoughts on Jones and what he’s seen out of him so far. Madubuike complimented multiple parts of the rookie’s game, saying that he’ll be great for the team as he keeps working and keeps getting better.
“He’s a dog. He’s a big, strong, fast, great guy. He’s going to be great for us. He’s just got to keep working and keep getting better.”
Jones was widely regarded as a second round pick by many, with some even putting him in the first round in their mock drafts. However, Baltimore was able to get the former Connecticut star at No. 76 overall, which represented one of the biggest steals of the draft. The rookie should be able to provide an interior pass rushing presence, which has been lacking for the Ravens over the last few years.
In three years at the college level, Jones totaled 134 tackles and 8.5 sacks.
