Baltimore Ravens defensive end Derek Wolfe missed the entirety of the 2021 season with hip and back injuries. The veteran eventually underwent offseason hip surgery, and he posted himself recovering from the procedure on his Instagram.
In an episode of the Blood Origins Podcast, Wolfe talked about his passion for hunting. During one of his answers to a question, he mentioned a potential retirement.
“We’ll see what happens with if I retire or not, or if I keep playing. I’m not sure yet, we gotta see how this hip goes.”

Not even 30-minutes after an article in the Baltimore Sun mentioned that Wolfe was considering retirement, the defensive lineman cleared up any confusion about what’s next for his football career, saying he fully intends to come back in 2022.

Having Wolfe back at full health would be a key addition for the Ravens’ defense. He was one of the best run defenders in the league during the 2020 season, and would help Baltimore get back to defensive dominance if he’s on the field in 2022.
