Ravens DL Calais Campbell weighs in on football future

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Cincinnati Bengals by the final score of 24-17 on Wild Card Weekend, ending their season. The team will now quickly pivot to their 2023 offseason, where they’ll focus on improving their team through free agency, the draft and other avenues.

One question that will linger until a decision is made is the status of defensive lineman Calais Campbell. The veteran weighed in on his football future during locker clean out, saying that he doesn’t want to decide quickly and instead go through a process, but also made it clear that it will be hard for him to walk away.

“I don’t think it would be wise to decide so quickly. I think you have to go through a process. So, I’m going to give myself a few weeks to kind of go through that process and decide after that. This is definitely … It’s going to be hard to walk away, that’s for sure. So, we’ll see. I’ll talk to the front office and talk to the coaches and I’ll think. There’s a chance I could be back here again next year; I just have to go through that process.”

If Campbell decides to return it would mark his 16th year in the NFL. He has an impressive resumé as a professional, and is still playing football at a high level. He’d be a welcome addition to any team, but is currently under contract with the Ravens for one more season.
