Ravens agree to extension with QB Lamar Jackson and Twitter rejoices

There is a Friday news dump, and then there is Day-1-of-the-NFL-draft news dump.

That is precisely where the news of Lamar Jackson’s extension fell as the Baltimore Ravens announced they agreed in principle to sign the former 2019 NFL MVP to a five-year contract extension.

There was much consternation throughout the offseason as the Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson. Theoretically any team could have negotiated with Jackson, too. The catch is they would have to give up two first-round picks to acquire Jackson’s playing rights in addition to the new contract.
