Rave on Avon: 16-hour rave returns to Bristol with thousands expected to attend

One of Bristol's most popular all-day raves returns this year with thousands expected to attend at a new location.

Rave on Avon is back for its 12th edition to showcase some of the very best of Bristol's underground and rising music talent. Back in 2019, Bristol Live reported on the moment thousands descended on the streets of Stokes Croft for an impromptu rave in line with the festival.

The party was set to transform Old Market back in 2020 after Blue Mountain closed its doors for good. The mass multi-venue rave first took place eleven years ago but with Stokes Croft becoming increasingly gentrified, organisers of the legendary event announced move it to a new home.

It had morphed from the seminal BrisFest after-party - one of the original Ashton Court Festivals - to Stokes Croft Fest and then into the 16-hour day to night event. Like many events across the UK, organisers of the Bristol festival were forced to cancel the previous two editions of the festival due to coronavirus restrictions.

Two years later and the festival is due to head to Bristol's flagship nightclub Motion during the day on May 21 and then splinter off into several after-parties at Dare To Club and The Exchange.

With two outdoor stages and one rave tunnel hosting world-renowned artists such as DJ Die, Nicky Blackmarket, Jon Pleased Wimmin, GotSome and Tommy Vicari Jnr, many genres of underground dance music are covered. There are over 50 DJs and brands exhibiting some of the city's best new talent in the field including A For Alpha, Alfresco Disco, Bitch, Please!, Chez De Milo, Soul Shake, Fate And Fiction Recordings, Duvet Vous?, Dr Dubplate, Ellie Stokes, Dave Harvey, TheYard Woman and Thrilogy.

Tickets are on their final release priced at £20, with the Dare 2 After Party going for an extra £5, set to rise to £10 in general release. Rave on Avon organisers will announce set times closer to the event.

Rave on Avon 2022 comes to Motion on Saturday, May 21, 2022
