Liverpool got back to winning ways with a victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby
The Reds claimed a 2-0 success over their nearest rivals in the Premier League clash at Anfield on Monday night. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool in the first half, latching onto a Darwin Nunez cross to finish off a fierce counter-attack.
Cody Gakpo then scored his first goal for the club in the early stages of the second half. The Netherlands international was in position from close range to tap in a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross to double Liverpool’s lead.
After that result, the Reds now lie in ninth place in the Premier League table. Jurgen Klopp’s side are nine points adrift of the top four places with a game in hand.

Next up for Liverpool is an away trip in the Premier League. The Reds will travel to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday, as they look to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.
