Jadon Sancho was able to waltz around in the box and slide the ball past Alisson. The pain doubled shortly after the break, with Marcus Rashford adding to United's lead.
Mohamed Salah pulled one back late on, but it was not enough to change the result.
The sorry night leaves Liverpool 16th in the table, one place above Everton. Next up for the Reds is Bournemouth at home on Saturday.
