Liverpool and Man City went head-to-head for the Community Shield at the King Power Stadium today.
Liverpool have now completed the domestic cup set under Jurgen Klopp after they beat City 3-1 for their first piece of silverware of the 2022/23 season.
Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and new signing Darwin Nunez secured the win for the Reds. Alexander-Arnold fired Liverpool ahead in the first half with a whip into the corner after Salah set him up on the edge of the box.
City equalised after a lengthy VAR check in the second half with a goal from Alvarez but with thanks to a handball late into the half, a penalty was awarded to the Reds and the Egyptian found the bottom right corner.
In the seven minutes of additional time, Nunez found the back of the net and the perfect ending for Liverpool..
