Everton could not hold on for a vital three points as Frank Lampard and his charges drew for the second game in succession, 1-1 away to Brentford.
The Blues have struggled in the early stages of the season, with defeats against Aston Villa and Chelsea before a draw at home to Nottingham Forest.
But a first-half strike from Anthony Gordon gave them a deserved lead after a positive start. Brentford came on strong as the opening period wore on, but Lampard's men went into the break ahead.
Yet the second-half brought more pressure - and it eventually told as Vitaly Janelt levelled for the home side with 84 minutes gone.
Next up for Everton is an away day against Leeds United on Tuesday night, before hosting Liverpool for the Merseyside derby next weekend.
