Rasmus Hojlund breaks silence on Manchester United transfer interest

Rasmus Hojlund remained coy regarding reported contact with Manchester United but the Danish striker admits it is flattering to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that United manager Erik ten Hag has held multiple video calls with Hojlund, with the 20-year-old identified as a realistically attainable target for his priority position. The Dutchman has long wanted Harry Kane but the club are operating under the assumption Tottenham will not sell their star.

Hojlund is one of several targets being eyed by Ten Hag to bring goals, and the Dutchman admitted last month that he had been in open dialogue with potential signings.

But while the young striker admits his goal is to ascend to the top of club football, he did deny much meetings had taken place.

“There has been no video call,” Hojlund told Danish outlet Berlingske. “I can't say anything about that.

“It's a huge club, so I must have done something right if it says they want me. My goal is to reach the top shelf, and you can say that Manchester United is. So it will be huge.”

Hojlund joined his Danish teammates on Monday as they shape up to face Northern Ireland and Slovenia in their Euro 2024 qualifiers. The youngster looks set for a busy summer after those games, with interest growing across Europe.

As such, a move away from the Bergamo-based Atalanta is looking increasingly likely. And Hojlund admitted that he has taken on a new agent - although he did not elaborate on who they are or the reason for the appointment.

“I have found someone, but it is on a trial period,” the striker said.
