Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice appears to have chosen his NFL jersey number.
Rice posted on social media on Sunday afternoon, hinting that he’d be going back to his high school jersey number in Kansas City. He posted a fan mock-up of him wearing a No. 4 Chiefs jersey alongside the picture of him wearing the No. 4 jersey at Richland High School in North Richland Hills, Texas.
“We running it back,” He exclaimed. “So much love 4 the Kingdom!”

Rice wore the No. 11 jersey with the SMU Mustangs, but that number is already spoken for in Kansas City with Marquez Valdes-Scantling wearing it.
This is the second year that the NFL has allowed the expanded usage of single-digit uniform numbers for players. Previously, quarterbacks and specialists were the only players allowed to wear the No. 4 jersey.
Chad Henne was the most recent player to wear the No. 4 jersey for Kansas City from 2018 through 2022. Before that, there were quarterbacks like Steve Fuller, Tyler Thigpen and Tyler Palko. Hopefully, Rice can carry on Henne’s tradition of clutch play.
