'Rare' Grade II listed lodge on private grounds for sale

A ‘stunning’ home that dates back to the 1800s has been listed for sale in Merseyside.

The Grade II listed period property sits on its own private plot on Thornton Common Road, in Thornton Hough. Being in a semi-rural location, the home is surrounded by countryside and its own secluded gardens.

Named North Lodge, the home was built in 1894 and still retains many of its historic features. On the market with Hewitt Adams, the property is priced at £750,000.

According to Rightmove, properties in Thornton Hough had an overall average price of £464,663 over the last year. Most of the sales during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £339,452.

Detached properties sold for an average of £665,000. Overall, sold prices in the last 12 months were 23% down on the previous year and 6% up on the 2015 peak of £439,150.

Similar homes, under two miles away are also priced similar to North Lodge. Another four bedroom home on Gayton Lane is currently listed at £850,000, while two properties are under offer on Thornton Common Road for £850,000 and £950,000 on Parkgate lane.

Images of the property show many characteristics including the gabled front porch, timber cladding, dormers, casement and mullioned windows. Inside, the period features continue, with exposed brick fireplaces and arches present throughout.

A large wooden door in the entrance vestibule leads into the hall which has a central staircase to the first floor. From here, there are doors leading into the lounge, dining room and kitchen.

The kitchen and breakfast room overlooks a courtyard, with further access to the garden. Here, past the courtyard, a hallway leads to a ground floor bedroom and en-suite shower room.

Upstairs there are three further bedrooms, a study room, and a main bathroom. Outside there's a large back garden which has been landscaped with lawns, mature flowerbeds and hedging.
