Not all sea view homes are huge, expensive abodes that hug the coastline and hog the best coastal views. There are ways to get a prime spot by the beach with an uninterrupted view to impress on a lower budget.
But be prepared, there are some coastal areas where you can get that elusive panoramic view but the cost is to sacrifice space for location. If you can do that then you could secure a sea view apartment for the same price as a spacious house located inland.
And there are some streets on the coast in Wales that can claim one of the best sea view addresses in the nation, and that adds another layer of prestige that increases the real estate value.

One of these prime sea view streets that can command a premium is the road that winds along the coast in Vale of Glamorgan - surely it should be somewhere on this exclusive sea view list?
Called Main Road, the street is a route into the village of Ogmore-by-Sea as well as being a popular residential road on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, with its stunning, sweeping sandy beach that bends around the bay past Merthyr Mawr sand dunes to Newton and then Porthcawl on the headland.
And along this stretch of this coastal road properties are highly sought after, benefiting from incredible, panoramic sea views as well as being part of a thriving and close-knit community.
So it's not a surprise to discover that the coastal village has an overall average property price of an eye-watering £543,195 - over double the Office for National Statistics' latest data that states that Wales' national average house price is £223,800.
According to property portal Rightmove, sold prices in Ogmore-By-Sea over the last year were 14% up on the previous year and 33% up on the 2017 peak of £409,054.
But finding an apartment for sale is a rare discovery at this location that is predominantly composed of detached and semi-detached homes.
One of the most active buildings for offering a way to get an Ogmore address that is not going to cost half a million pounds is the Heritage Coast House block of apartments, built in 2005 on the site of a former nursing home, according to the approved planning application on Vale of Glamorgan County Council's website.
The 15 dwelling building boasts a prime spot on the coastline, surrounded by fields and looking out in a southerly direction across the Bristol Channel to Somerset on the horizon - and it could be the answer to finding your dream home on the coast with a smaller budget.
Built as new rather than renovating an old building and trying to make the best of the constraints of an existing property, the design of Heritage Coast House makes the most of the enviable location with each dwelling boasting at least one balcony.
And there's a central, communal beast of a balcony for residents to enjoy together that maybe hosts fantastic beachside parties and social events. Each of the flats has a duo of parking spaces with amazing sea views, plus there are visitor parking spots too.
It's not just posh country manor houses that can boast a long, sweeping driveway to the entrance. Heritage Coast House can boast its own version that sweeps past the building in one direction and in the other direction ends at a remote controlled entrance that gives access to the car park and the communal gardens, as well as the main entrance.
The two-bed apartment for sale can be found along one side of the building. The result is that the home benefits from looking south, constantly bathed in sunlight as well as sea views, especially on the balcony which is accessed from the open-plan kitchen, dining and living room.
The flat is a spacious home that begins with a hall and from this central space all rooms can be accessed.
Into the living area and the well-loved and well-looked after apartment can easily be described as immaculate, so all a new owner has to do is bring in their furniture, unpack and then grab the swimsuit for a dip in the sea via the sandy beach.
The benefit of being on the first-floor, as well as being south-facing are immediate, with light streaming through the bank of windows and sliding doors that lead out onto the very inviting balcony.
The kitchen is tucked around the corner of this L-shaped reception room, and is a well-designed space that includes integrated appliances such as fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer, as well as a Neff double electric oven, ceramic hob, extractor hood.
There's plenty of space in this living zone for a dining table and chairs to entertain family and friends, who will surely be regular visitors drawn to enjoying your company of course and nothing to do with the coastal location and access to the gorgeous beach.
There'll be somewhere for guests to stay too, as the apartment has two double bedrooms. And you won't have to share a sink whilst brushing your teeth at bed time either because both bedrooms have a smart and stylish ensuite that continues the immaculate condition of this abode.
This two-bed, immaculate apartment with balcony that enjoys uninterrupted sea and coast views is on the market for £375,000 with Watts and Morgan, call the Cowbridge branch on 01446 773500 to find out more.
