Rare AirPods discount finally makes Apple's earbuds much more affordable

It's Prime Day 2023 and the deals have already started flooding in. Amazon started slashing prices at midnight with the bargains set to continue until tomorrow night, July 12. There are hundreds of products reduced in this money-saving event but one deal that has caught out eye is a price cut to Apple's AirPods.

It's pretty rare you'll see gadgets from the US technology giant getting a discount but that's exactly what Prime Day is dishing out and it's a good time to invest if your current earbuds are on their last legs.

The Prime deals mean you can now pick up the AirPods 2nd Gen for just £99 - that's a £30 saving.

To prove what a good deal this is, Mirror Online has checked out the price of AirPods at Currys and Argos with both of these retailers selling Apple's buds for the standard price of £139.

If that's got you thinking about buying the AirPods 2nd Gen here's what's included with these music-making gadgets.

The AirPods (2nd gen) feature an easy one-touch setup with iPhones plus there's an improved wireless connection thanks to the modern H1 chip that has been tucked inside.

To keep the tune going, there is a battery life of 5 hours with the neat little charging case offering a total of 25 hours once the in-built battery is fully topped up.

Although the case can't be refilled wirelessly it can be boosted quickly via a standard Lightning cable - that's the same lead that charges your iPhone. In fact, you'll get over an hour of music playback from a quick 5-minute refill. Other extras include touch controls and quick access to the Siri voice assistant.

This AirPods deal is one of the best we've seen in a while but there is one catch. To grab the discount you'll need a Prime account which usually costs £8.99.

If you don't have Prime then do not panic. Amazon offers a month of free access which means you sign up now, grab the discount and then cancel before the 30 days is up.

Just remember to cancel or you will be charged.
