Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine rushed to hospital after being 'beaten to a pulp' by group of men

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has been rushed to hospital after being attacked by a group of men while at a gym in Florida.

The 26-year-old was jumped by several men on Tuesday evening while in the sauna of an LA Fitness gym.

According to his lawyer Lance Lazzaro, the hip-hop star did his best to defend himself but was outnumbered by his attackers and "beaten to a pulp" before the men fled the scene.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, did not have security with him at the time of the attack.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene of the incident after the manager of the facility heard the commotion.

In a picture obtained by TMZ, the Fefe artist was seen with a swollen face and a gash near his cheek.

Insiders told the publication that his jaw, ribs and back were also injured during the attack.

His lawyer added that the next step is for him to contact federal authorities to urge them to provide added security in the wake of the attack.

A video of the attack has been shared on social media, which shows a pair of men punching and kicking the musician as he was on the floor of the gym.

A second clip showed Tekashi 6ix9ine with blood on his face as he left the sauna and returned to the main area of the gym.

It is currently unclear if the incident was linked to his past legal issues.

In 2020, the rapper was granted early release from federal prison following his 2019 sentence in connection with racketeering.

He had faced numerous charges including racketeering, attempted murder, possession of a firearm and assault with a weapon.

Hernandez had faced a 47-year minimum sentence and maximum of life in prison in the case, in which he was accused of a number of crimes while part of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.

However, he reached a plea bargain and agreed to testify against multiple gang members.
