Rapper Takeoff's cause of death confirmed by coroner as 'gunshot wounds to head and torso'

Rapper Takeoff's cause of death has been confirmed by the medical examiner's office after he was tragically killed earlier this week.

The chart star - a member of the Migos group - was shot and killed at around 2.30am on Tuesday after an argument allegedly broke out over a game of dice.

Takeoff - real name Kirshnik Khari Ball - died from “penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into the arm,” according to the medical examiner’s office in Houston.

His death was ruled as a homicide with the place of death cited as “outside a business in Houston, TX,” - with reports claiming the location was 810 Billiards & Bowling.

Documents obtained from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences by Page Six confirmed the details after police press conference held on Tuesday revealed the killer has not yet been apprehended.

The police chief and lead investigator urged the general public to “step up” to help them try and secure an offender - with new footage of the scene subsequently being uploaded online by a member of the public.

In the clip - which appears to depict the fatal shooting - a man is seen holding a weapon just moments before gunfire is heard.

While the man is still to be identified he is clearly seen with short dreadlocked hair, wearing a navy blue shirt and a cap and carrying a cross-body bag with patches on.

His face is also seen in a close-up image from the footage but his identity is still unknown and Houston police have not confirmed that he is a suspect in the killing, telling Page Six that the investigation is “ongoing.”

On Tuesday night Takeoff's record label Quality Control released a statement confirming details of how the 28-year-old rapper died.

It read: “It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we mourn the loss of our beloved brother Kirsnick Khari Ball, known to the world as Takeoff.

“Senseless violence and a stray bullet has taken another life from this world and we are devastated.”

Two time Grammy nominee Takeoff formed rap group Migos alongside his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset who paid tribute to him on Instagram following the brutal slaying.

Migos collaborated with several big name stars include Nicki Minaj, Cardi B and Drake bagging themselves several top ten hits after they formed in 2008.

One of their most notable hits was Bad and Boujee which saw them join forces with Lil Uzi Vert earning them a No1 hit single on the Billboard chart.

After news of his death a string of celebrities paid tribute to the star online including Mike Tyson, Wiz Khalifa, Ja Rule and Keri Hilson.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains ongoing with a suspect yet to be arrested.
