Firefighters raced to the street where three vehicles were on fire within three minutes.
The fire service received reports of a vehicle fire on Grindon Lane, Sunderland shortly after 12pm on Tuesday, and had crews dealing at the scene within three minutes of the call.
Upon arrival, the two crews found that the fire had spread to two further vehicles, and cordoned off the busy residential street so crews could safely extinguish the blaze accordingly.

Thankfully nobody was injured and firefighters left 45 minutes later.
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We can confirm that today (8th March) we received a call at 12:13pm about a vehicle fire on Grindon Lane in Sunderland.
"Two crews from Farringdon Community Fire Station were on the scene in just three minutes to begin extinguishing the fire.
"Upon our arrival it was clear that the fire had spread to two other surrounding vehicles meaning three vehicles in total were on fire.
"Thankfully, nobody was injured at the incident and the fire is now out.
"Our crews left the scene at 1pm."
The cause of the initial fire is not yet known.
