Rapid Labrador races seven-time Olympic gold medallist swimmer in the pool

An Olympic swimmer’s dog has been giving her owner a run for their gold medal in the pool!

Seven-time Olympic gold medallist Caeleb Dressel shared an adorable Instagram video over the weekend, which saw his dog Jane give him a race in the water.

The black Labrador could be seen perched on the edge of the starting block before leaping into the water after the American swimmer.

Jane - who often appears on her owner's social media - swims after a red dog toy held by Dressel, who swims backwards away from the paddling pup.

Meghan Dressel - Caeleb’s wife - can be heard cheering on her four-legged swimmer as she jokes "this is insane!"

Fellow Olympian Bobby Fink, who won two gold medals in Toyko, commented on the post, saying: “Still a better start than mine.”

Australian swimmer Kyle Chalmers, who won silver in the men’s 100m freestyle, added: “So you’re not the only Dressel that would smoke me to 25.”

Caeleb Dressel won five gold medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, including the 100m freestyle against Kyle.
