Leeds United winger Raphinha has opened up on his future at the club amid a summer of speculation - but he’s admitted that the World Cup in Qatar later this year will certainly be a factor in where he ends up domestically. The Brazilian has been strongly linked with Barcelona this summer in a saga which is sure to go all the way.
The Whites have reportedly dug their heels in, demanding between £60-70 million paid upfront in order to prize away their star-man, while the financially-strapped Catalan club try to cut a deal.
Raphinha has never hidden away from his desire to play for Europe’s elite, but while he remains under contract at Elland Road, he remains as committed as ever. Similarly, those in charge in Yorkshire know full well that their player is destined for greater things and they will not stop him - so long as the deal works for them.
The 25-year-old is under contract until 2024 which - coupled with the fact there is no release clause now they have stayed up - means that Leeds are in the driving seat and don’t look like budging.

Since arriving from Rennes for just £17 million, Raphina has developed into one of the most dangerous wingers in the world and he has become a vital cog in the Brazil team since making his debut in October. His 17 goals and 12 assists at Elland Road have at times carried the club to safety.
Representing Brazil was a dream come true for the winger, and now he has eyes set on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which starts in November. Speaking to the press ahead of Brazil’s friendly with Japan on Monday, Raphinha addressed his future at Elland Road, but made clear his intention to do anything to play for Brazil in Qatar.
“If I say that it doesn't matter, I would be lying,” Raphinha said, as reported by Globo. “Knowing that there are less than six months left for the Cup, you have to be active in the clubs, that weighs on the decision, but I trust my potential.
"If it's to stay or leave, I'll do my best, look for my space and I'll try to be well for the World Cup."
Questions inevitably followed about his future, and where he thinks that lies, to which he replied: "The next game, against Japan.
"Then I go on vacation. I have a contract with Leeds until 2024, my future is in the hands of Deco and Leeds, I have my mind on the national team, on the game and also on my vacation, we need a vacation.
“I have a contract with Leeds and this issue is resolved by my manager, when something is right, he sends [it to] me."
