Raphael Varane sends message to Casemiro ahead of Manchester United transfer

Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane sent a welcome message to Casemiro after an agreement for the Brazilian to move to Old Trafford was announced on Friday night.

United will sign Casemiro for £60million plus a possible further £10million in add-ons, with the midfielder set to sign a four-year contract with the option of an additional year.

A United statement on Friday said: " Manchester United is delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Casemiro.

"The transfer is subject to the agreement of personal terms, UK visa requirements and a medical." On arrival at Carrington, Casemiro will be welcomed by some familiar faces.

During his nine years at the Bernabeu, Casemiro played alongside current United stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane. The latter of whom took to Instagram to welcome his new teammate to the club.

In a post which featured a picture of the trio during their Madrid days, Varane said: "Many battles fought together with my warrior Case. Welcome to Manchester, amigo."

Casemiro is thought to have joined United for the personal challenge of lifting the Premier League and due to feeling pushed out of the picture at Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti's side signed defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni for £85million this summer and the Frenchman started Madrid's opening La Liga game of the season.

United did try and push the deal through quicker so that Casemiro could feature against Liverpool on Monday night. However, the time frame was too tight so his debut could come, at the earliest, against Southampton next Saturday.
