Raphael Varane names his favourite Manchester United moment since Real Madrid transfer

Raphael Varane has revealed his favourite Manchester United moment was scoring his first goal for the club against Brentford.

Varane swapped the Bernabeu for Old Trafford in the summer of 2021, but it took him until May last season to score his first goal for United, with the Frenchman finding the back of the net with a volley in a 3-0 win against Brentford in the Premier League.

The centre-back has developed a formidable partnership with Lisandro Martinez this term with Erik ten Hag in charge and he'll be hoping to return to Manchester in the same form and with another World Cup victory with France in Qatar.

United's in-house media released a Q&A with Varane on Wednesday and it was in that interview he reflected on his first goal.

"It's difficult to say one game, but my first goal [against Brentford] at Old Trafford was a special moment," Varane said. It was amazing, it was a great feeling and obviously, I was very, very happy. I think Old Trafford is special and I think the fans are amazing.

"We feel the support all the time and everywhere in the world. I just try to be myself [dealing with pressure], we have to manage the pressure and I try to change the pressure onto focus and concentration, that's what I try to do.

"Yes, I try to stay calm, it's not always easy but we try to focus on the game."

France will play Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday if defeating Morroco.
