Mixed martial arts fighter Goodwin, from Liverpool, was convicted of raping two students and sexually assaulting another on Friday, January 22. The 21-year-old business management student was found guilty of three charges of raping one student in Manchester, and of assaulting her by penetration.

He was also found guilty of one charge of raping a student in Liverpool. The jury also convicted him of two offences of sexually assaulting a third student in Liverpool but cleared him of a sexual assault on a fourth student, also in Liverpool.

Speaking to The Times, one of Goodwin's victims, Sarah, said she was in her first week of university when she met Goodwin. At first she thought the 21-year-old was attractive and slept with him.

She said: "I thought he was a nice-looking boy and he had a way with words." Sarah added things were casual between the pair and not long after she discovered he had a girlfriend back home, she started to dislike him.

A few nights later Sarah joined in a drinking game at a party to be sociable and Goodwin was also there. A witness told Liverpool Crown Court he singled her out to repeatedly take shots until she was so drunk she could not stand unaided.

Another friend realised how drunk she was and put her to bed but during the night, when Sarah was far too drunk to consent, Goodwin took her to his room. He later sent an image of Sarah naked to the friend who had tucked her into bed, boasting of his sexual prowess.

Boy, 4, died after Alder Hey Children's Hospital said fever was 'not an emergency'

Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool (Liverpool Echo)

A desperately sick child was only diagnosed with a silent killer disease after it was too late to save him.

The parents of four-year-old Ronaldo Iosif became worried when he developed a high temperature and took him to Alder Hey Childrens' Hospital A&E department, where he was initially assessed pending a full medical examination.

However, because his temperature was not considered to be at an emergency level, he was placed in the lowest "green" priority. This meant he could face a wait of up to four hours in the busy A&E department before being seen by a doctor.

Instead, following a discussion with medical staff, his parents took him back home. But overnight, the fever worsened, and they returned to Alder Hey the next morning.

It was only then that the seriousness of his condition was realised and Ronaldo was rushed to a resuscitation unit. Despite frantic efforts to save him, the child was tragically pronounced dead a short time later.

Truck smashes into van as family rivalry descends into chaos

The moment a yellow tipper truck reverses into a van, marking the arrival of a gang of masked and 'mob-handed' men at the Pony Paddocks on Factory Lane in Widnes on August 3, 2020. (Cheshire Police)

This is the shocking moment a yellow tipper truck crashed into a van while leading a gang of masked mob-handed men on a charge to terrorise a rival family over a land dispute.

In the phone footage clip, a male voice can be heard warning “there’s Prices is coming” and shouting “here they are” as the vehicle looms into view rear end first, followed by the sound of two bangs and the voice saying “f*** off James”.

The footage was taken on August 3, 2020, on Factory Lane in Widnes, when a dispute between two families who owned adjacent plots of land erupted into chaos and the sounds of gunfire.

At Liverpool Crown Court this month, Reuben Price Sr, 49, of Regent Street, Newton-le-Willows, and his sons Reuben Price Jr, 27, of Southworth Road, Newton le Willows, and James Price, 24, of Baguley Avenue, Widnes, were sent down for violent disorder for their roles in being part of the intruding mob.
