Ranvir Singh has given her followers a health update after she was pulled off Good Morning Britain on Tuesday after suffering from a sudden allergy. She disappeared from the live ITV news programme after she appeared to have 'the worst hay fever' co-star Richard Madeley 'had ever seen.'
The show's former political news correspondent was on hand to read the news headlines at the time with 'streaming red eyes' and a 'swollen face' but Ranvir, who had said she was wearing glasses to help with ease her 'sore eyes', was determined to carry on with her job despite struggling to read the autocue.
But midway through, reporter Louisa James, who has been confirmed as Ranvir's replacement after she stepped away from her political role on the show, was drafted in to bring viewers the latest news headlines alongside Richard and co-host Susanna Reid.
Following her absence from the show for a few days, Ranvir has since revealed that she was suffering with something "more than tree pollen" but will be back on-screens before the end of the week as she fills in for Lorraine Kelly on her self-titled ITV show.
"Thanks for all the guidance on my streaming sore eyes this week," the 44-year-old wrote on Twitter. "It was an allergic reaction to something more than tree pollen as the skin around my eyes has gone paper thin and sore. Anyway I’ll be hosting @lorraine tomorrow and for all of next week – sorry for my face!"
During the show on Tuesday Richard had told Ranvir that her allergy was 'the worst hay fever he'd ever seen' and feared she 'wouldn't get through' the programme. In response, Ranvir admitted: "I don't know what's going on. That's why I look like this today. I'm OK, thanks. Just streaming eyes." But shortly after she was replaced.
Susanna had to quickly explain Ranvir’s sudden exit after initially not expecting to see Louisa in her place. "It’s five past seven, we have the rest of the day’s news now, and it’s no longer Ranvir," she said before addressing Louisa and continuing: "Louisa, you’ve stepped in. How is Ranvir doing?"
"Ranvir is fine. Well, I think she’s going to be fine. We think she’s had a bit of an allergic reaction, she’s got a bit of sore eyes. But she’s just resting," Louisa explained.
