2022 is proving to be one year of all unimaginable collaborations. And, the latest brands to hop onto the bandwagon of collabs are two giant clothing labels - adidas and Gucci. The collab of the year was unveiled recently and the internet is abuzz with news about the same since then.
The creative director of Gucci is said to have pulled inspiration from decades past, by recontextualizing sportswear which is nostalgia-driven and contemporary.
The collection was released in India with Indian film actor, Ranveer Singh marking the launch by sharing information about the same on his Instagram account.
Ranveer, who is Adidas Originals Brand Ambassador and a hardcore Gucci lover was obviously the perfect choice to unveil the collection.
The actor unveiled some of his favourite looks from the look book. The collection first made news as it was showcased at Exquisite Gucci, the house's fashion show that took place in February in Milan.
The collection pushes into hybridized territory with ready-to-wear pieces echoing the sporting attire of decades past while portraying an undeniable contemporary character.
"The assemblage plays out across women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, as well as on bags, shoes, accessories, jewelry, and lifestyle pieces. Throughout the selection, the GG monogram and Interlocking G mix with the adidas Trefoil in colorful prints, as well as on jacquard fabrics; while the red and green Web of Gucci complements the three stripes of adidas. Pushing the collection further into hybridized territory, ready-to-wear pieces echo the sporting attire of decades past while portraying an undeniable contemporary character. Additionally, conventionally formal pieces like leather heels, suede loafers, and silk scarves are marked with casual codes. Beyond the standard selection, the expansive offering also includes some lifestyle items including a golf bag in two different variations, a nod to the House’s heritage in leisure products," reads the official press release of adidas.
