Ranking The Nine New Skins Of Overwatch's Winter Wonderland 2018 Event

Overwatch

It’s about that time again where every game under the sun is throwing their holiday event. Destiny 2’s The Dawning event started today, and on the same Blizzard launcher you will find Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland event returning for another year, filling in more of the blanks for people who do not have winter/Christmas/holiday themed skins.

There are nine new ones this year, three epics and six legendaries, and with no Legendary duplicates, you should probably not have all that tough of a time getting them all, even without spending money provided you’re playing enough during the course of the event, which runs from today until January 2.

As I tend to do, I am going to rank these skins in order from worst to best, with epic skins probably being at a relative disadvantage to start with because they’re less involved but hey, life’s not fair.

9. Festive (Epic)

Overwatch

Man, it’s just gold Reinhardt with a bow on him. That’s like, the least amount of effort you could have put into one of these skins unless his maul is a candy cane or something else I’m missing. Not my favorite. My least favorite, in fact, as you can see.

8. Gift Wrap (Epic)

Overwatch

I mean, this is a little better than Reinhardt’s skin as it at least has a pattern, but really, stop dressing up characters like presents, please.

7. Snowboarder (Legendary)

Overwatch

I get that Zarya was the logical pick for this skin but it’s just a bit boring for my taste, particularly when there are like six other better Zarya skins to choose from.

6. Biathlon (Legendary)

OverwOverwatchatch

This one is a little better, mostly because I dig the neon ‘80s vibes of Widowmaker’s suit here, but still not the most exciting.

5. Snow Fox (Legendary)

Overwatch

In my opinion, Blizzard struggles a little bit with good legendary Lucio skins, but this one is decent enough I suppose. Not spend 3,000 gold on it decent, but I wouldn’t mind a random drop of it.

4. Winter (Epic)

Overwatch

Descriptive name there, but I really like this Ashe skin a lot, even if it is mostly just a color scheme. It looks really sharp on her, and until she gets more skins, this will do nicely.

3. Figure Skater (Legendary)

Overwatch

2. Sugar Plum Fairy (Legendary)

Overwatch

Mercy has so many good skins at this point, it almost isn’t fair, but sure, add another great one onto the pile where she can be a mystical fair with bug wings. Great skin.

1. Krampus (Legendary)

Overwatch

Dwight Schrute first introduced me to the concept of Krampus, the Christmas demon, and Junkrat playing him here is by far my favorite skin of the bunch.

All in all I am…not the most wild about most of these. I don’t know, feels like a bit of an uninspired event if you ask me, but the top tier ones are really good, so I guess that balances it out. Which ones are your favorites?

I really, really love this Symmetra skin, if only I ever had a reason to want to play Symmetra. I think this will be a crowd favorite.
