The Seattle Seahawks are now past the halfway point on their 2023 schedule. While there have been some bumps along the way, Seattle is roughly where we expected them to be at this point in the season. At 6-3 they are a tough but flawed team, on the bubble of true Super Bowl contenders but not quite there just yet.
Things are about to get a whole lot harder, though. After this week’s rematch on the road with the Los Angeles Ram the Seahawks will embark on the most-brutal part of their schedule – arguably the roughest four-game run any team in the NFL will face this year.
Let’s see if we can predict how the rest of the regular season will play out. Here’s how we rank the eight games remaining on the Seahawks’ schedule and our predictions for each of them.
Week 18 at Arizona Cardinals (2-8)
Kyler Murray coming back makes this Arizona team far more dangerous, as the Falcons found out the hard way on Sunday. However, the Cards still have one of the league’s worst rosters and the Seahawks have already beaten them pretty soundly this season (20-10 in Week 7). Losing this one would be an embarrassment and Seattle should be favored by at least a touchdown.
Prediction: Seahawks win
Week 16 at Tennessee Titans (3-6)
The Titans have also recently gotten a shot in the arm at quarterback via the emergence of rookie Will Levis as their starter, replacing the ghost of Ryan Tannehill. Levis looks like the real deal, but very few QBs will find success with the pass protection he’s been given thus far. Tennessee teams rarely get blown out under Mike Vrabel, so fans shouldn’t expect a dominant win, but the Seahawks should get the job done here, as well.
Prediction: Seahawks win
Week 11 at Los Angeles Rams (3-6)
Seattle got a harsh reminder back in Week 1 that you can never afford to look past this team. That being said, ever since these two teams have gone in polar opposite directions. While the Seahawks have won six of their last eight games, while the Rams have lost six of eight. Matt Stafford’s return will help, but LA is still overmatched overall against Seattle and Sean McVay doesn’t have six months to game-plan for this one unlike Week 1.
Prediction: Seahawks win
Week 17 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3)
Pittsburgh might just be the toughest team to get a read on this season. On the one hand, they have one of the worst offenses in league history and have consistently been outscored this year. In fact, they have a -26 point differential heading into Week 11. So far they have gotten it done via a lot of strong defense and a little bit of luck. Then again, the Seahawks also have a negative point differential (-1), so these are two relatively poor 6-3 teams. Expect a weird, ugly game and a home loss.
Prediction: Steelers win
Week 12 vs. San Francisco 49ers (6-3)
While there are more difficult opponents on the schedule, this game is likely to be the high point of Seattle’s 2023 season. Stages don’t get much bigger than playing the nightcap on Thanksgiving against your most-bitter rival. The 49ers have seemingly recovered from their three-game losing streak, but Brock Purdy continues to make them vulnerable – and his relative lack of experience in these type of games will eventually hurt the Niners.
Prediction: Seahawks win
Week 13 at Dallas Cowboys (6-3)
Dallas may not be quite as tough as the other conference heavyweights. However, they’re still one of the most well-rounded teams in the NFL this year. Heading into Week 11 they rank second in scoring offense (29.9 points per game) and fourth in scoring defense (18.3 points per game). Then again, those numbers are somewhat skewed from having piled on the Giants twice this year. Excluding Dan Quinn the Seahawks are better-coached and wearing their throwback uniforms means they cannot possibly lose.
Prediction: Seahawks win
Week 14 at San Francisco 49ers (6-3)
Sweeping San Francisco sounds like a wonderful way for this to go down, but it’s not likely to happen. With home-field advantage and motivation from their humiliation on Thanksgiving, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers should manage to bounce back and beat the Seahawks in Santa Clara.
Prediction: 49ers win
Week 15 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (8-1)
After all the up and downs of the first 10 weeks and the chaos in our power rankings, the Eagles and the Chiefs are back at the top of the mountain – the same as when last season ended. While the Seahawks have dominated this series in the Pete Carroll era (he’s 7-0 against Philadelphia), they haven’t faced this version of the Eagles and they likely won’t match up well. Whatever else happens on the field Seattle will be overwhelmed at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
Prediction: Eagles win
Final record: 11-6
