Miami’s turnover chain is long gone, but the other turnover celebration props have taken over the college football world.
And some of them are WILD.
In recent years, we’ve seen some weird and wacky ones, but after the start of the 2022 season, it’s a good time to round them up and rank them by coolness.
What’s the definition of coolness here? I guess it’s how much I’d like to wield or wear or — in the case of one — play the turnover prop if I grabbed a fumble or interception.
So let’s dive into what we’ve seen so far on the sidelines in 2022:

Boise State: Skulls
New Tradition for #BoiseState Football: The Turnover Skulls.
Successor of the Turnover Bike and the Turnover Throne, this is how the "Boneyard Boys" (BSU defense) celebrate takeaways in 2022.

Per the Idaho Statesman, “Whenever a player forced a turnover, they were presented with a small skull, which was hung from a spear planted near the Broncos’ bench.”
That’s fine, but there are cooler props out there.

Dunking after a turnover with the whole team cheering you on is kind of awesome.

HECK YEAH! Look at how all the players react, too.
The Marauders are the latest team to come up with a turnover gimmick to celebrate a takeaway by a defensive player.
The turnover chain worn by the Miami Hurricanes is arguably the most famous one.
At Central State, it’s called the turnover glove.
Defensive back Anthony Mack proudly wore it on the sideline after he made one of the biggest plays in Sunday’s 41-21 win over Winston-Salem State at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. His 25-yard interception return for a touchdown was one of four turnovers forced by the Marauders defense.
Central State associate head coach Michael Ervin came up with the turnover glove idea.

A little scary and dangerous — I assume it’s not usable?? — but … wow.
