The rumblings about where Bill Belichick could go after he left the New England Patriots hinged on one thing: Bill Belichick actually leaving the Patriots.
Well, it has happened, reportedly. Belichick is out after an astounding 24-year run that includes six Super Bowls with the Pats.
Now what?
That question is two-fold. For the Patriots, it’s about finding his replacement, a tall task given what Belichick has done for that franchise. And for Belichick? He could sail off into the sunset on his boat … or he could go for Don Shula’s all-time wins record (including the playoffs) with another team.
With that in mind, we’re here to help him pick a landing spot, if he chooses to go that route:

Carolina Panthers
With all due respect, we say: Please, Bill. Don’t do it. There are better jobs out there with better ownership and less of a rough situation on the field (even though the defense is pretty good!).

Hey, how about a reunion with Jimmy Garoppolo (if the Raiders keep him)? In all seriousness: I think there are better jobs out there.

Atlanta Falcons
Yes, we’ve seen all the 28-3 jokes and they’re all very funny. But while there are reports that there’s interest from the Falcons, Belichick might step into a situation in which he’s got to coach a rookie QB. Not the most ideal.

More intriguing than you think. There’s Year 2 of Will Levis, who showed flashes here and there, a defense that plays hard and a run game that might be OK if Derrick Henry is out. Also, he was born in Nashville!

Once upon a time, at the turn of the century, Pete Carroll was out in New England and was replaced by … well, you get it. But the Seahawks are tailor-made for being good going forward. Would Belichick want to move to the West Coast though?

A rookie QB situation … but! Let’s remember that while he was born in Nashville, he was raised in Annapolis. So there might be that connection, along with the fact that this team could shine with one of the top quarterback names out of college.

It’s simple: Justin Herbert and that offense will be fine with a new coach, even with a defensive-minded one like Belichick. If he wants to move to L.A. and get some sunshine while coaching the most playoff-ready roster of the bunch, here you go.
