Bath has been named the best place to live in Britain in an annual league table dominated by towns in the South West of England.
Property finder Garrington compiled the report after analysing more than 1,400 cities, towns and villages in the UK to find the best place buy a house.
Each area was ranked based on criteria including physical environment, quality of life, environmental credentials and architecture and heritage.
Half of the top 10 locations ranked in the top 5% of all areas for environmental achievements. With a move to hybrid working a new reality for many, access to fast broadband also remained a prerequisite for inclusion, Garrington said.
“After another exceptional year for the property market, activity remains brisk, with buyers searching for the perfect location that offers everything they are looking for in a new home,” said a spokesperson for Garrington.
“More space, somewhere comfortable to work and a better standard of life continue to be cited as top requirements on many buyers’ wish lists.
“With millions of people keen to continue working remotely at least some of the time, many are reassessing what they want from their home – and this shift is transforming Britain’s property market for good."
