Rangers vs Dortmund ticket total revealed as visitors set for bumper away crowd

Rangers have handed Borussia Dortmund a bumper allocation of 2,700 tickets for their Europa League showdown at Ibrox even though it's unlikely they will receive any for the first leg in Germany.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side face the former Champions League winners in a play-off round game next month with the second leg in Glasgow.

Borussia Dortmund are currently only allowed a capacity of just 750 of their supporters into their vast 80,000-capacity Westfalenstadion for matches because of German restrictions with the Omicron variant of Covid.

The North Rhine-Westphalia regional government - where Dortmund are based - stated they were hopeful there will be further easing of crowd restrictions before next month when they host Rangers, but they are still no further forward with an increase in supporters' numbers.

And it's looking increasingly unlikely Rangers will receive any official allocation for the February 17 tie.

But the Ibrox club will still give Dortmund their full allocation for the second leg.

Dortmund stated: "As things stand at present, BVB will receive a guest allocation for the away game.

"Approximately 2,700 tickets are expected to be available to BVB fans. We will inform the fans about advance ticket sales at a later date."
